| | Hello there. Shopify Payments just listed seven new local ways to pay, and public apps have a hard November deadline for IP allowlists. Merchants shipping into the EU also face a new flat customs handling fee on every parcel. Coffee first. In today’s newsletter, we’ll get into: - Shopify Payments adds Alipay, GrabPay, MB WAY, OXXO, Satispay, Scalapay and WeChat Pay as local methods.
- Public apps that call the Admin API need an IP allowlist by Nov 20, or Nov 12 if they use bulk operations.
- The EU now charges a nonrefundable 2 euro customs handling fee on ecommerce imports from outside the bloc.

| | 🛒 Traffic is fine. The cart is empty. A first-time merchant selling pet products says visitors show up, yet almost nobody adds anything to the cart. The store has been live a few months, and the gap between sessions and add-to-cart is the whole problem. If you have fixed a similar leak with page speed, trust signals or offer clarity, share what moved the needle in the thread. 📊 Count a sale when it is paid, not when it is pending. Merchants who take Multibanco, bank transfer, cash on delivery or B2B terms say Shopify creates the order at checkout with Payment pending, then Analytics and many external tools treat that as a sale. They want a switch so only paid orders count toward revenue and integrations. Add your stack on the paid-only sales feature request if that reporting gap hits your store. 🤖 A shopping agent that lives in the group chat. A developer built a proof of concept shopping agent that runs inside a messaging app, using Shopify's newer commerce agent hooks. The open question is whether shoppers actually want to buy that way, or whether it stays a demo. If you have tested agent shopping with real customers, say what felt useful in the Reddit thread. | |

| | 💳 Seven new local methods in Shopify Payments. Shopify says Shopify Payments now supports Alipay, GrabPay, MB WAY, OXXO, Satispay, Scalapay and WeChat Pay. That is a wide mix of wallets and local methods across Asia, Europe and Latin America, useful if your storefront sells into those markets and you want checkout options shoppers already trust. The Shopify Payments announcement on X is the short official list. 📦 EU adds a 2 euro customs handling fee on every import. From Nov 1 the EU charges a nonrefundable 2 euro customs handling fee on ecommerce parcels shipped from outside the bloc, on top of the 3 euro duty added in July for parcels under 150 euros. Both can apply per item type rather than per box, so a mixed cart gets expensive fast. If you ship US-to-EU, read the customs fee breakdown before you quote landed cost at checkout. 🌏 Non-Latin characters are breaking the warehouse printout. A US merchant opened Managed Markets shipping into Asia and suddenly has hundreds of orders with non-Latin names and addresses that the warehouse cannot read on labels. They need a reliable post-order translation step that does not mangle the address. If you have a clean workflow for this, post it in the translation thread. 🚪 Thinking about leaving Shopify? The replies are blunt. A store with about 250 subscribers says checkout limits, support and app costs are pushing them to consider another platform, even though most peers say stay. They want concrete reasons to stick or switch, not slogans. Merchants trading war stories are gathering in the leave-or-stay Shopify thread. | |

| | 🔐 IP allowlists are required for public apps. Shopify now requires every public app that calls the Admin API to configure an IP allowlist: Nov 20 for most apps, Nov 12 if you use bulk operations. A leaked token then only works from your own servers. Serverless apps can add hosting-provider ASNs when they lack static IPs. Start with the IP allowlist security changelog if you ship a public app. 🧪 Test network access settings on a dev store. A new feature preview lets you test app network_access configuration on a development store. Links to hosts missing from the allowlist show the exit warning, and the browser console flags storefront requests to servers that are not listed. It warns only and blocks nothing. Shopify recommends every app set this up, per the network access testing changelog. 🔑 Sign in with Shop opens to storefront apps. Sign in with Shop is now a drop-in component storefront apps can add for wishlists, back-in-stock alerts, loyalty and similar flows. Shoppers keep one Shop identity across apps instead of yet another account form. Partner teams building those surfaces should read the Sign in with Shop storefront note before the next release train. | |

| | 🤝 Partner earnings now track merchant growth. Shopify updated partner incentives so you earn more when your merchants grow, with payouts tied to subscription revenue and GMV across plans and deal types. The pitch is shared growth instead of one-off install fees. Agency and app partners should review the new partner earning model against your current book of business. 📱 Reflex: agents that build and verify mobile apps. Shopify Engineering published Reflex, an agentic-first architecture used while rebuilding Shopify's mobile apps in Swift and Kotlin. Agents can build and verify app behavior across iOS and Android without devices or simulators, with one test suite keeping both platforms in sync. The Reflex engineering write-up explains the approach. | |
