| | Hello there. Wednesday's Shopify news is about where the sale actually closes: AI agents can now finish a Shop Pay checkout on their own, Sidekick moved into the checkout editor, and a new EU customs rule lands on November 1. In today’s newsletter, we’ll get into: - Shop MCP lets AI agents search Shopify Catalog, build carts and complete Shop Pay checkout, with orders landing in your admin like any other.
- From November 1, parcels shipped to EU consumers from outside the EU need SKU, model number and barcode identifiers for customs.
- Bundles built as Buy X get Y on non-Plus stores will not stack with other product discounts, so test before your next sale.

| | 🛠️ Sidekick now helps inside the checkout and accounts editor. Shopify's AI assistant is now available in the desktop checkout and customer accounts editor, per the Shopify changelog. You can ask it how to configure settings, get app suggestions or search the Help Center without leaving the page. In the Checkout Blocks app it also explains payment, delivery and validation functions and reviews what you already have set up, which is handy before holiday checkout tweaks. | |

| | 🤖 AI agents can now complete Shop Pay checkout for shoppers. Shopify launched Shop MCP, a single connection that lets agents like Claude and ChatGPT search over 1 billion products in Shopify Catalog, build carts and finish checkout. A signed-in shopper can pay with saved Shop Pay details without visiting your site, and the developer changelog says those orders appear in your admin like any other. Clean product data now matters even more, since agents read it directly. | |

| | 🏷️ Your bundle discount may quietly skip your sitewide sale. A merchant on the Shopify forums walked through why bundle discounts fail to stack. On stores not on Plus, a Buy X get Y deal cannot receive other product discounts. With the Bundles app, a collection sale only applies if the parent bundle product is in that collection, not just its components. Put a bundle in your cart, apply the expected codes and read the checkout discount lines before your next promotion. 🎯 Meta explains how to steer ad placements without manual controls. Meta removed manual placement controls from sales, leads, engagement and app campaigns, keeping them only for awareness and traffic. Shopifreaks reports that Meta now points advertisers to three levers: uploading separate images and videos per placement in one ad, raising or lowering bids by placement with value rules, and setting account-level placement exclusions by objective. Worth a look before you build Black Friday campaigns. | |

| | 🇪🇺 EU customs wants product identifiers from November 1. If you ship from the UK, US or elsewhere outside the EU to EU consumers, each product will be declared with up to three identifiers: your SKU, the maker's model or part number and the barcode where one exists. A forum post on the new rule notes it covers all such goods, not only parcels under EUR 150, and your carrier will ask you for the data. Audit your variants now. 📦 Canada Post rates broke for one store after an MFA change. A Canadian merchant says Shopify has not been able to connect to their Canada Post account since the carrier required multi-factor authentication months ago, so live rate estimates stopped working. The forum thread is a useful warning for anyone relying on carrier-calculated shipping: check your Canada Post connection and test a checkout rate before holiday orders pile up. | |
