| | Hello there. Happy Halloween. The changelog went quiet on Friday, so today is about getting more out of what already shipped: new Analytics tools that show where your sales cluster and why a chart spiked, plus what merchants are fighting in the forums, from Meta ad restrictions to slow payouts and sales tax confusion. In today’s newsletter, we’ll get into: - Shopify Analytics now lets you pin notes to time-series charts, group reports by category metafields and metaobjects, and see sales on interactive bubble maps.
- A maternity clothing store had its Meta purchase events restricted under Health & Wellness, and community replies point to words in product titles, handles and event payloads.
- Shopify confirmed the checkout editor error some stores hit on Friday and says a fix is coming soon.

| | 🗺️ Analytics can now map where your sales cluster. Bubble maps plot net sales, orders, average order value or gross profit by shipping or billing address, grouping nearby orders into clusters sized by the metric you pick. Zoom in and the map and table refresh with more local clusters. Shopify's Analytics walkthrough shows a brand using it to choose where to run its next regional campaign. 📝 Notes on your charts, and reports by material or color. You can now add, edit and search your own annotations on time-series reports, such as an influencer collab or a supplier delay, and Shopify adds its own for app installs and newly published products. Reports can also be grouped and filtered by category metafields like color and material, or metaobjects like designer and warranty, as the Fall '26 Analytics post explains. 🧭 Shopify's product chief explains the Fall '26 Edition. In a Q&A, VP of Product Vanessa Lee says the Edition is about putting the knowledge of millions of merchants to work for each store, with AI as one piece of it. Her main example is POS recognizing first-time in-store shoppers who have checked out with other Shopify Payments stores. The Edition interview links to the full merchant and developer highlights. | |

| | 🚫 Meta flagged a maternity store as Health & Wellness. A store's Purchase, InitiateCheckout and AddPaymentInfo events were restricted, and a new dataset and even a new Business Portfolio got the same label. Replies say it likely follows the domain, so check product titles, collection handles and event payloads for words like postpartum or nursing before rebuilding. The community thread on the Meta restriction lists where to look in Events Manager. 📈 Meta says its AI ad ranking lifted conversions 15.7%. Meta credited upgrades to the systems that choose which ads people see, including Andromeda, which now weighs more of each advertiser's products, for an 8.3% rise in Facebook ad clicks and a 15.7% rise in conversions. Partnership ads with creators have also passed a $15B run rate, per Shopifreaks' Meta recap. 💸 Good CTR, bad CPMs. A merchant says the site converts fine once people land, but high Meta CPMs are pushing up cost per click and wiping out margins, so the problem sits at the top of the funnel. If you have brought CPMs down with creative, audience or placement changes, the r/shopify thread on unprofitable Meta ads is asking. 🛒 Do upsell apps pay for themselves? A store owner wants real numbers from shops that run cross-sell or upsell apps: how much did average order value or total revenue rise, and was it worth the subscription? It is a useful gut check before the holiday rush, and you can share yours in the upsell app thread. | |

| | ⏳ A Shopify Payments payout still stuck after a week. A small merch store has customer money held in Shopify Payments after a failed transfer. The case went to senior review on Oct 25 and to payments specialists on Oct 29, with no release yet. If you have had a failed payout freed up, the stuck payout thread could use the steps that worked. 🧾 No sales tax at checkout for a Canadian seller. A Calgary apparel brand selling into the US keeps stock at a 3PL in Minnesota. Shopify Tax says it is all set, yet a Texas order shipped from Minnesota charged no tax, and the owner wants to know whether storing inventory there creates nexus and where to register. Anyone who has sorted this can answer in the sales tax thread. | |

| | 🛠️ Checkout editor errors are a known issue. Opening Settings, Checkout, Edit showed a "There's a problem loading this page" error across several stores, while the rest of the admin worked. A Shopify staffer replied that the team is aware, is working on it and expects a fix soon. Follow the checkout editor report before you spend time debugging your own setup. 🗂️ Cannot add products to a collection by hand? In the new collection editor, a collection built on conditions fills itself, so you cannot simply drop more products in. Replies say you can edit the conditions, add a manual source next to them, use Exclude, or move to a manual collection. The collections help thread has screenshots of where the buttons moved. | |
