| | Hey there, good morning. Shopify moved Shop to a new address, added return windows you can set per product, and a merchant is watching 10 percent of every sale vanish into a reserve. Wednesday homework for anyone who would rather not meet Black Friday with a half-finished tracking setup. In today’s newsletter, we’ll get into: - Return window overrides now let you set shorter or longer return periods by market, collection, product or variant, and Shop has moved from shop.app to shop.com.
- Merchants are hitting cash-flow walls, with a 10 percent payout reserve stacked on a Shopify loan and a large payout frozen behind a bank verification loop.
- Your Black Friday tracking freeze may land on Oct 28, and September's analytics rebase is leaving sessions and conversion rates looking different while orders hold steady.

| | 🗓️ Your BFCM tracking freeze date may be Oct 28. A Community post argues your freeze date is Black Friday minus your longest attribution window, not the week before. With Google Ads defaulting to a 30-day click window and Black Friday on Nov 27, the math lands on Oct 28. Changing a pixel, dataset or GTM container after that blends two setups in your holiday numbers. Check the window on your Purchase conversion action before you plan. 📉 Sessions and conversion rate shifted after the September analytics update. A merchant noticed sessions, conversion rate and add-to-cart numbers moved a lot after the September update while orders stayed about the same. Shopify said it changed how sessions are measured and improved bot filtering, so the dashboard changes may not reflect real performance. Before you react to a sudden conversion jump, compare against orders and revenue instead of sessions. 👗 Apparel stores: what actually lifted product page conversion? A women's outerwear store with about 40 products has decent traffic but keeps losing shoppers on product pages, despite size charts, model height, clean photos and video on top sellers. They ask other apparel sellers which changes made a real difference. No answers worth summarizing yet, but the thread is a useful place to trade tested ideas before peak season. 💳 Missing BNPL option could cost you carts at checkout. A Morning Consult survey commissioned by Sezzle found that two-thirds of paycheck-to-paycheck shoppers who use buy now, pay later would likely abandon a cart without their preferred provider. Shopifreaks reports that Sezzle is pitching retailers on adding a second option before Black Friday. It is a vendor-funded survey, so treat it as a prompt to check your own checkout data. | |

| | 🔒 A 10 percent payout reserve landed right after a Shopify loan. A merchant says Shopify now holds 10 percent of each order in a locked account until Jan 27, on top of a 17 percent loan repayment taken from every sale, so 27 percent of revenue is committed. The reserve is tied to chargeback risk, though they report none. They ask how to get it lifted. Model your cash flow for holds before taking financing. 🏦 A six-figure payout is stuck behind a bank verification loop. One merchant says more than $116,000 in pending payouts froze after a single $704.84 deposit failed on Sep 25, and the payouts page now rejects their bank details. Support says only the risk team can clear it. A community reply suggests checking the store owner's email for verification messages, which may be filtered on a custom domain, and keeping everything on one ticket. ↩️ Return windows can now differ by collection, product or variant. You can set return window overrides by market for specific collections, products or variants, such as 14 days for seasonal items against a standard 90. An override replaces your default window, the shortest matching override wins if several apply, and final sale items still win. If you sell holiday stock, review which products deserve a tighter window before the rush. | |

| | 📦 Retail staff can now count stock on the shop floor. Staff with inventory permission can now open a count in Shopify POS and record what is on hand by scanning barcodes or entering quantities, while planning, review and approval stay in Admin. You create the count in Admin first, choosing the location and products. If you run retail and online from one catalog, this makes pre-holiday stocktakes much less paperwork. | |

| | 🤖 Shopify's Muse connector is live for store data. Shopify says its Muse connector is live, letting you connect your store and ask Muse about orders, inventory and analytics. The post adds that Muse remembers your goals and follows up on its own. It is an early announcement with few details, so check what data it can access and what it costs before connecting a live store. 🌐 Shop's web address has moved away from shop.app. Shop's web experience has moved to shop.com, and existing shop.app links redirect automatically. Your store, products and channel settings are unaffected, and you do not need to do anything. If shop.app appears in your social bios, ads or emails, update those links when convenient, though the redirect will keep working. 🚚 Local delivery can be booked inside a POS sale. Staff can create local delivery orders at POS checkout when a customer cannot take an item home. If the address is inside one of your delivery zones, local delivery appears among the shipping rates. Staff then confirm the phone number, add instructions and check out, with no separate online reorder. Confirm your zones and fees are current first. | |
